Enter Week Type

Explanation

Use this activity to enter the week types used in the cycle schedule details. The primary purpose of the week type is to define a color to a week in the cycle schedule. The color is displayed in the graphical employee scheduling window. The scheduling window operates in week mode or in day mode. The week mode utilizes the color from the week type, the day mode the color linked to the day type.

The week type is often related to the day types for the week. For example, a shift schedule defined by a two-week cycle (one morning week and one evening week) should have one color for the morning and one for the evening. In more complex schedules, the color can represent a work time pattern rather than the time of day.

When running in week mode, the graphical employee scheduling window will show the colors for the scheduled weeks.

Procedure

1. Investigate the schedules you are administering in the Availability Planning window to identify the need for week types.
2. Enter these week types in the Week Type window.
3. Now you can add the week type information to the schedules in the Schedule Details window.
