Allocate Design Part to Design Object

Explanation

This activity is used to allocate or reallocate a design part to an object. Once codes are saved to the object, it is possible to perform this activity and start the process of finding and connecting a design part to the object. To do this, you will select a code collection, filtered by the current standard. The default code collection is defined with a system variable and will be pre-selected. At this point you can choose to allocate a design part or reallocate to allocate a new design part to the selected object in addition to replacing the currently connected design part. If a match is made, the design part is allocated/reallocated to the object. It is also possible to allocate and reallocate design parts to all design objects within a plant. Refer to About Design Part Codes for more information.

Prerequisites

• Design part codes should be defined in the Code 1 - 4 fields for the design object.
• The design part class should be defined as a 'Can be a design part for' class relation for the design object class.

System Effects

The design object will have a connected design part. It is possible to create purchase requisitions for the design object from this point onwards.

Allocate Design Parts

Procedure

To allocate or reallocate a design part to a design object:

1. Open the Design Object or Design Objects window.
2. Search for the design object to which you want to connect a design part. 
3. Right-click and click Allocate Design Parts. The Allocate Design Parts dialog box opens.
4. In the Select a Code Collection field, enter the name of the code collection based on which the design part should be allocated. The default code collection specified in the System Variables is displayed.
5. Select the Reallocate check box if you want to replace a currently connected design part and allocating a new design part to the design object.
6. Click OK. 

To allocate or reallocate design parts to all design objects in a particular plant:

1. On the Business Object Explorer, navigate to and highlight a plant for which you want to allocate or reallocate design parts.
2. Right-click and click Allocate Design Parts to Plant. The Allocate Design Parts dialog box opens.
3. In the Select a Code Collection field, enter the name of the code collection based on which the design parts should be allocated. The default code collection specified in the System Variables is displayed.
4. Select the Reallocate check box if you want to replace currently connected design parts and allocating new design parts to the design objects.
5. Click OK.
