A default project and activity can be defined for your plant to simplify the task of entering a project and activity for all of the design objects you create for your plant. Establishing a default project and activity is also useful when the exact project and activity the design objects will be used for, is unknown. Once the project and activity for a design object are known, this information can be defined on the design object and replace the default project and activity.
The default project information will appear automatically on new design object(s) you create and is consequently updated on the project activity. It will also be possible to select a default project without specifying an activity. However, the connection between the object and the project is not complete, and the planned values and progress cannot be reported on the entered project.
A default activity sequence number should be defined instead of the activity ID when assigning the default project activity. The reason is that several activities can have the same activity ID in different sub projects. As a result a default activity for the logged-in user cannot be set by the system. The activity sequence number is always unique and is therefore used to set the user's default project activity.
To set a default project ID, a project in either the Initialized, Approved or Started status needs to exist and the logged-on user needs to have access to the project. To set a default project activity, the activity needs to exist and have either the Planned or Released status and the logged-on user needs to have access to the sub project to which the activity belongs.
