Reserve Part from Inventory

Explanation

This activity is used to reserve a part which is currently available and unreserved from a picking location, for performing a service on the part. You can reserve company-owned parts as well as customer-owned parts. This could, for example, be an in-house repair or a customer-owned part that already exists in a picking location.

When having several parts on the component repair order line, you can either reserve all at once or reserve a partial amount. You can combine the CRO receive part functionality with manual reservation. The receive part option is enabled as long as the line status is not fully reserved. It is therefore possible to first reserve a sub quantity of customer-owned parts manually from the inventory and then use the receive part functionality to receive the remaining quantity of parts.

If the part is at receipt and is issue tracked, then it is just the quantity that is reserved to the component repair order line with an asterisk ( * ) as the serial number. The identification process is postponed until the issue from the repair order is performed. If necessary the identification of the reserved serials can be done before release to repair via the Tracking Info tab.
