Connect Repair Line

Explanation

This activity is used to either create a new repair order line with a connection to the exchange line or connect the exchange line to an already existing repair line. It is only repair order lines defined with the same part number as the exchange line that can be connected.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, an exchange line which is not in the Cancelled or Closed status must exist.

System Effects

• A connection is created between the exchange line and a repair order line if the Connect option is selected in the Connect Repair Line dialog box.
• A new repair line is created with connection to the exchange line if the Create New option is selected in the Connect Repair Line dialog box.
• If the Create New option is selected, then a record is generated in the Journal tab to document that a new repair line is created.

Procedure

1. Open the Component Repair Order window.
2. Search for a component repair order with exchange lines.
3. Click the Exchanges tab and locate the line for which you want to connect to a repair line.
4. Select the line, right-click and click Connect Repair Line. The Connect Repair Line dialog box is opened.
5. If you want to connect an existing repair line to the exchange line then select a line in the table and click Connect. If you instead want to create a new repair line connected to the exchange line and then click Create New.

Note: The Exchange Group ID field located on the repair line is used to group the exchange lines and repair lines together. It receives the same group ID as the exchange line in connection with that the link is established.
