Enter Exchange Line

Explanation

This activity is used to enter component exchange lines. The component repair order consists of a header, together with repair and exchange lines. Against the exchange line, the part number and the quantity to be exchanged at the customer is defined. You can also use this line to ship out a loan part to the customer. It is not possible to handle services of components owned by different customers on the same component repair order.

You have two options for entering a component repair order: (1) Using an assistant that guides you through the entire entry process and (2) manual entry.

 All possible exchange actions for a component repair order are done on a line level. The following actions can be considered as the most important:

• Register and confirm single exchange part receipts.
• Register and confirm loan returns.
• Reserve and dispatch exchange parts from stock.
• Record customer approval of dispatched parts.

Prerequisites

• An inventory part with the part type Manufactured or Purchased must exist on the site.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, one or several exchange lines are created.

Procedure

Manually by using the Component Repair Order window:

1. Open the Component Repair Order window.
2. Search for your component repair order.
3. Click the Exchanges tab.
4. Create a new record.
5. Enter the exchange part number or select it from the List of Values.
6. Enter an exchange quantity greater than zero.
7. Enter the exchange code or select if from the List of Values.
8. Save your record.

By using the assistant:

• In the first step you will specify the general information on the component repair order, i.e., the header.
• In the second step you may create component exchange lines, including information about any accessories enclosed with the exchange part.
• In the third step you may optionally specify fault information for the repair items.
• In the fourth step you may create component repair lines, including information about any accessories enclosed with the repair part.
