Define Cost Template

Explanation

Use this activity to define and maintain cost templates to be used within the system, and to connect buckets to inventory parts. This mandatory task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person. The idea with Cost Rollup Control is explainded by a short example.

We buy a part 95 times of 100. We want to capture manufacturing cost in the shop order flow, using manufacturing cost buckets, but we don't want to include manufacturing level cost in the cost rollup calculation for this part. We create a cost template that includes both Manufacturing- and External Acquired cost buckets. But we only select the Use External Acquired Costs check box.

Six system-defined cost templates are installed when a user creates a site. Template are used to connect buckets holding costs to the inventory part that will carry the costs. This activity can be performed in the Cost Template and Cost Templates windows.
