Override Default Cost Template for Cost Set

Explanation

Use this activity to override the default template assigned to the part cost group for a specific cost set. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.

This activity allows you to use alternative cost templates for different cost sets. Multiple cost reiterations and alternative versions can then be calculated and viewed, including 'what-if' scenarios.

This activity can be performed from the Part Cost Group and Part Cost Group/Cost Set: windows.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

• A part cost group must exist.
• Cost sets must be defined.

As a result of this activity

• The system defines the cost template which is to replace the default assigned to the part cost group.

Procedure

To perform this activity in the Part Cost Group window, follow these steps:

1. Open the Part Cost Group window.
2. In the Part Group ID field, query for the part cost group for which you want to override the default template.
3. Click the Override Template/Cost Set tab.
4. In the Cost Set field, select the cost set rows for which you want to override the default template.
5. In the Manuf. Cost Template ID and Purch. Cost Template ID fields, select the templates to use from the List of Values.
6. Save the changes.

To perform this activity in the Part Cost Group/Cost Set window, follow these steps:

1. Open the Part Cost Group/Cost Set window.
2. In the Cost Set field, query for the cost set for which you want to override the default template.
3. On the Part Group tab, select the part cost group for which you want to override the default template.
4. In the Manuf. Cost Template ID and Purch. Cost Template ID fields, select the templates to use from the List of Values.
5. Save the changes.
