Update Cost Set Estimated Material Cost

Explanation

This activity is used to mass update the cost set estimated material cost for a group of inventory parts belonging to a cost set selected by the entered;

The update is based either on estimated material cost, cost set estimated material cost, latest purchase price, or average purchase price. You can update all the selected parts with the same percentage value. The update is based on the criteria you specify in the Update Cost Set Estimated Material Cost dialog box.

If you want to update the cost set estimated material cost, you should make sure there are non-zero values in the corresponding cost type of individual inventory parts, which will be entered in the Cost Type field in Update Cost Set Estimated Material Cost dialog box, before you use this activity. The update of latest and average purchase prices is performed in the Calculate Purchase Costs dialog box.

System Effects

Based on the values entered in the Update Cost Set Estimated Material Cost dialog box, the cost set estimated material cost for the selected inventory parts will be updated with the entered (+) or (-) of entered cost type in each corresponding individual part. The update is performed as a background job.

For individual inventory parts where update base entered as cost type is found to be zero (0), the cost set estimated material cost is not updated even though they have been qualified for update based on selection criteria entered.

Procedure

  1. Open the Update Cost Set Estimated Material Cost dialog box.
  2. In the Site field, enter the relevant site, or select from the List of Values.
  3. In the Cost set field, enter a cost set other than the cost set 1 or select from the List of Values.
  4. In the Lead Time Code list select a value. Available values will be Manufactured and Purchased.
  5. In the Cost Type list, select a cost type. Available values will be Estimated Material Cost, Cost Set Estimated Material Cost, Latest Purchase Price and Average Purchase Price.
  6. In the Percentage Change field, enter the desired percentage with which the estimated material cost should be updated with (+) or (-) sign.
  7. Entering values in the Part Cost Group, Commodity Group 1 Commodity Group 2, Product Code, Product Family, Asset Class,  Supplier and Supplier Stat Group fields is optional.
  8. Click OK.
