Start Approval Process
Explanation
Use this activity to start the approval process for one or
more documents.
Prerequisites
- The document revision must have a status of
Preliminary.
- You must have administrator rights to the document.
- Approval steps must be defined for the document(s).
System Effects
- A message is sent to the person defined in the approval process' first
step. If
several lines with the same step number exist, all persons are notified
simultaneously. If the
first step is defined for a group, all group members are notified.
- The Status of Approval in Progress is assigned to the document.

If the Update Allowed During Approval check box is selected, the document
revision can then be edited during the approval process.

Procedure
To start the approval process for a single document.
- Open the Document Revision window or the
Document Revisions window and query (F3) for a document with a
status of Preliminary.
- Right-click (In the Document Revisions window, first select the row), point to Status, and then click Start Approval. A dialog box appears.
- Click OK to confirm the start of the approval process.
To start the approval process for multiple documents.
- Open multiple documents in the
Document Revisions
window.
- Select two or more documents
with a status of Preliminary.
- Right-click, point to Status, and finally click Start
Approval. A dialog box opens.
- Click OK to confirm the start of the approval
process.
