When the document is developed, the next step is to approve and release the document. The approval is a way of certifying that the document now has reached the desired quality level. If the document revision has an approval process connected to it, all steps must be approved before the status can be set to Approved.
After a document has been set to Approved, you can release it. The Release state implies that the document revision is valid for use throughout the organization. Before the document is released, it is still a working document so limited access is provided to it. Upon releasing the document revision, it is common to update the document access, making it accessible to a larger audience. If an object connection is required for the document title, at least one object must be connected to the document before release.
