Cancel Business Opportunity

Explanation

This activity is used to cancel an existing business opportunity. This activity can be performed for opportunities in any status other than Closed.

If you want to cancel only an opportunity line, right-click on the appropriate line on the Business Opportunity/Opportunity Lines tab and click Cancel Opportunity Line.

When an opportunity line or an entire business opportunity has been canceled, its status changes to Canceled, and no further transactions can be performed.

Prerequisites

For an entire business opportunity;

• The opportunity header must be in a status other than Closed.
• An order or a quotation must not have been created for any of the opportunity lines.

For an opportunity line;

• An order or a quotation must not have been created for the particular opportunity line.

System Effects

The status of the business opportunity or the opportunity line is updated to Canceled and no further transactions can be performed.

Procedure

To cancel an entire business opportunity:

1. Use the Populate or Query function to display the appropriate business opportunity in the Business Opportunity window.
2. To cancel an entire business opportunity, right-click on the upper part of the business opportunity and then click Cancel Opportunity.
3. In the Cancel Opportunity dialog, enter Reason ID. Optionally enter a Reason Note.

To cancel an opportunity line:

1. Use the Populate or Query function to display the appropriate opportunity in the Business Opportunity  window.
2. Right-click on the required opportunity line and then click Cancel Opportunity.
3. In the Opportunity Line Cancellation dialog, enter Reason ID. Optionally enter a Reason Note.
