Use this activity when you want to add or remove characteristics for a configured part. The characteristics associated with a specific part configuration revision are the only ones in the family that can be used in a configuration specification for that part.
IFS/Configuration Back Office and IFS/Configuration Characteristic must be installed. The configuration family must be created. The characteristics must be associated with the configuration family. A configurable part must have been entered and connected to the configuration family. At least one configuration part specification revision must exist.
As a result of this activity, the characteristics for the part configuration specification revision are changed accordingly. The characteristics are displayed in the order of category id sequence and characteristic sequence.
Note: You can only remove a characteristic from a part configuration revision that is in the Tentative state.
Note: If the part configuration revision is in the Released state, a characteristic option cannot be deleted, if any conditions or action rules exist for an effective structure or routing or for a structure or routing that will be effective in the future. Also, it cannot be deleted if rules exist related to work instruction, tools and/or combination tables. To delete a characteristic option value from a part configuration revision in the Released state, the rule must first be removed.
