Connect Component Characteristics

Explanation

Use this activity when you want to connect configuration package characteristics to be used during configuration, for a configuration family. A configuration package characteristic is a collection of configuration characteristics, called component characteristics, used by a group of parts connected to the same configuration family. Generally, all configured parts on all levels in a structure belong to the same configuration family. If they do not belong to the same configuration family, then the families must share the configuration characteristics inherited by the configurable components from their configurable parent parts.

When a package characteristic is added to a configuration, the connected component characteristic with a value and quantity is automatically added to the configuration and the price for the component characteristic is set to zero. It is only the price for the package characteristic that is used in the price calculation. The characteristics that are set as components to a package in a configuration cannot be changed by user or sales rules. It is only the package characteristic that can be changed.
