Choose Existing Company

Explanation

Use this activity to specify the identity of an existing company to be used as source when creating a new company. Any previously created company can be used as source.

Prerequisites

• The company identity, company name, and type of company must have been previously defined.

System Effects

• The specified company will be used by all components supporting the Create Company Process using an existing company to create company relevant basic data in these components.
• Components that do not support the Create Company Process using an existing company will use so-called default company data (if available) to create company relevant basic data. This is typically the case when an installation consists of a mix of components from different IFS Applications baselines.
• If the installation consists of a mix of components from different IFS Applications baselines that support the Create Company process in different ways, then a message box will appear to notify the user of this situation. The creation of a company may in this case result in inconsistency and errors.
• The company will always be created even if the selected template is not consistent with the business logic of the Application.

Procedure

1. Make sure you know the purpose of  the company to be created.
2. Enter the company ID to be used as source for the Create Company process. Make sure to select a company that reflects the purpose of the new company as accurately as possible.
3. If a message box is displayed, click OK after reading the message.
4. Go to the next page, return to the previous page, or cancel.
