Define Function for Item Class

Explanation

This activity is used to define a function for an item class. Each item class can have a number of functions which describe what the item class can perform, for instance, a computer can perform calculations, display pictures or be used for web browsing. Each function should be unique within its failure analysis structure. However, it is possible to define similar functions in different failure analysis structures.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, an item class must be defined.

As a result of this activity, a function is defined for the item class.

Procedure

1. Open the Failure Analysis Setup Navigator window.
2. Query for the item class.
3. Select the item class in the navigator on the left pane and click on the Functions tab.
4. Create a new record.
5. Enter values in the Function ID and Function Name fields.
6. Optionally, enter text in the Note field.
7. Save the record.
