Enter Product Model Functions
Explanation
When you have registered a product model, you can enter its functions
and then create a function structure. Engineering functions are the real building blocks
of a product and can consist of other engineering functions or engineering parts. You can
use only functions that are defined in
Product Basic Data/Functions.
Prerequisites
- The product model must exist.
- The functions must exist in
Product Basic Data/Functions.
System Effects
- Functions are connected to the model.
- Part revisions can be connected to the functions on any level in the function structure.
- Documents can be connected to the functions on any level in the function structure.
- If the Include in Execution Logic Planning check box is selected,
the
function will be included in the generation of execution logic structure
templates in IFS/Vehicle Information Management.

Procedure
- Select the model in Products and
Models and select Product Model Info from the right mouse button or
- Select the model in
Product Functions and select
Function Structure Navigator from the right mouse
button or
- Select the model directly in
Function
Structure Navigator.
- In the
Functions tab, create a new record.
- Either enter the function name of an existing function or select one from the List Of
Values.
- Enter a note, either now or later.
- Select the Include in Execution Logic Planning check box if this
function is to be considered when generating an execution logic structure
template.
- Save the function.
- Enter several functions by repeating steps 4 through 8.
Depending on the location in the structure, functions can be
entered directly below the root node or directly below a function anywhere in the
structure. At any time, the graphical structure can be used to move functions around in
the structure.
