Qualify Requirements
The basis of the qualifying process is the engineering requirements. For more details,
see the business object Engineering
Requirements. This process is very much a manual process, i.e., the process is not
entirely supported by IFS Applications. Qualifying the requirements consists of throwing
away or postponing a set of the requirements. The remaining requirements can be registered
as Change Requests (CRs).
The process should consist of the following steps:
- Evaluate all requirements (manual).
- Register the requirements to fulfill.
- The requirements to process at a later time are postponed (manual).
- The requirements to delete are rejected (manual).
- For each CR generated, an approval routing will be established, i.e., establishing the
persons who must approve the CR before anybody can go further with it and connect it to a
Change Order (CO).
- If the CR results in new product functions, the Functional Description document must be
extended.
- In the end, a preliminary change study is performed for each CR. The purpose is to
reveal the consequences of performing the CRs.
