Repair MRO Shop Order

Introduction

A repair shop order is an electronic document that authorizes the repair or modification of a part. The repair shop order is the result of a disposition shop order either identifying discrepancies or required modifications.

A repair shop order is similar to a standard shop order. The primary differences are:

Relation to MRO Manufacturing Flow

Within the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) process, the repair shop orders follow either disposition shop orders or assembly shop orders and are followed by assembly shop orders.

Repair Shop Order Overview

Repair shop orders for MRO are generated when you choose to perform the repairs suggested by a disposition shop order or assembly order. The repair shop order is created with the Repair shop order type and is allocated the part that is to be repaired and any other parts necessary.

Repair shop orders are generated either at the time of dispositioning component parts or at the time that an assembled item is received. At the time of dispositioning a component serial, they are generated on the basis of discrepancy or modification codes that may be called out for the component serial. At the time of receiving an assembled item, they are generated on the basis of modification codes that may be called out for the assembled item serial.

When the repair shop order is created, the system creates the material requirements for the items to be repaired and schedules the operations. The material and operations are based on the repair.

The status of the repair shop order shows where the repair shop order is in the process. It also controls what you can do with the repair shop order.

About Shop Order describes the statuses for manufacturing shop orders. The following table summarizes the repair shop order statuses:

Status Description
Planned The same as for other shop orders.
Parked The same as for other shop orders except that when the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul supply type is entered, the material is not unreserved when the repair shop order is parked.
Released The same as for other shop orders.
Reserved Essentially the same as for other shop orders. The part to be repaired is reserved to the shop order. This is the status you will normally see first.
Started Essentially the same as for other shop orders. Work has been started or parts have been issued to the repair shop order.
Closed The same as for other shop orders.

Repair Receipt

When the part is received, it can be reserved to the next assembly shop order for use in re-assembly.
