Convert Functional Object to Serial

Explanation

Use this activity to convert functional objects from a previous version of  IFS/Maintenance to serial objects. Upon installation, all objects from the old structure are automatically converted to functional objects in the new structure. However, the objects that you want to create as serial ones have to be converted manually one by one. This applies only to movable serials, i.e., objects that can be moved freely within the facility and to and from inventory, such as motors, gearboxes, etc. For non-movable serials, i.e., serial objects that cannot be moved easily, such as turbines, you have to perform another procedure.

This activity is also used to convert functional objects received from IFS/Plant Design to serial objects. When receiving functional objects from IFS/Plant Design, the object may or may not have an object level defined. The objects that do not have an object level, i.e., the objects which have their object level set to Undefined, can be converted to serials through this activity.

Prerequisites

To convert a functional object to a serial object, the functional object to be converted should come from IFS/Plant Design, or it should have been created in a previous version of IFS/Maintenance.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, functional objects received from IFS/Plant Design or from a previous version of IFS/Maintenance, are converted to serial objects.
