Create Category Object

Explanation

Use this activity to register a new category object. Once registered more information can be entered using the Functional Object window. Category objects can be used to define a set of common objects e.g., computers, printers.

Prerequisites

• Object levels should be defined in IFS/Basic Data for Maintenance, Equipment Basic Data.
• Objects should be defined in IFS/Equipment Administration if the category object is to be connected to an object structure.

As a result of this activity a new category object will be registered in the system

Procedure

1. Open the Category Object window and create a new record (F5).
2. Enter an object identity and a description.
3. The users default site is displayed automatically in the Site field, change the value if required by using the List of Values.
4. Enter the object level in the Object Level field.
5. If the category object is to be connected to a object structure enter the identity of the parent object in the Belongs to Object ID field (Category Object/General tab). Use the List of Values to select a suitable value.
6. Save the information (F12).
