Release Task

Explanation

This activity is used to release a task on a maintenance order.

When a maintenance order is released, all connected tasks will be released automatically. However, if a task is added to a maintenance order that is already released, and the task does not have any operations, the status of the task will be set to Incomplete. To be able to release such a task and start with the work it is necessary to first connect a valid instruction and then set the task to the Under Preparation status.

When a task with the distribution type Simplified Work Order is released, the task must be processed in IFS/Vehicle Information Management. For tasks released with the distribution type Work Order, a corresponding work order will be created per task in IFS/Work Order Management. If the task being released has the distribution type Execution Logic Structure, all relevant ELOs (Execution Logic Orders) and ELO operations will receive corresponding work orders and work order operations in IFS/Work Order Management.

If the task being released is connected to a service quotation for which an emergent work percentage is specified, the system will calculate the emerging work amount and raise an information message if the currently used emergent work exceeds 90% of the specified emergent work from the quotation. It is recommended that you evaluate emergent work at this time so as to avoid, for instance a situation where a medium to large task is about to start and the used emergent work percentage is already over 90%. Here, the Allowed emergent work amount is calculated as all emergent work on the quotation where the task is registered and will be equal to the value entered in the Emergent Work field found in the Service Quotation/Quotation Totals tab. To calculate the Currently used emergent work amount the system goes through all maintenance orders that are connected to the quotation and identifies all non routine tasks in the Work Done status or higher which are not in the quoted scope of the quotation. It will then summarize the prices for transactions belonging to these tasks and if the result is 90% or higher raise the relevant information message.

Prerequisites

A task in the Under Preparation status must exist on the maintenance order.

System Effects

• The task is released and a start date, that starts the task, is registered.
• Additional instructions (operations) can be specified for the released task.
• Defined operations for a released task can be cancelled.
• The task will be distributed to a work order if the distribution type is either Work Order or Execution Logic Structure.
• When a task is released on a maintenance order distributed with the Execution Logic Structure distribution type, the task will be added to the ongoing maintenance order and connected operations will be mapped into correct ELOs on the maintenance order. In addition, the operations will be mapped into corresponding ELOs (work orders) in IFS/Work Order Management.
• If the serial is a vehicle serial, the first task that is released on the serial will lead to an automatic change of the vehicle condition of the serial to the Vehicle Condition Code defined by the auto setting Set when first task is started. Procedure 

1. Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for the necessary maintenance order.
2. Click the Maint. Order Str. tab.
3. In the graphical object structure shown on the left, select the task you want released. The Task Details tab will be updated with information on the task.
4. Right-click, point to Status and then click Release.
5. Observe that the status of the task is changed to Released.

Note: It is also possible to release a task in the Maintenance Order/Included Tasks tab by using the above-mentioned Status feature.
