Assign Parts to Maintenance Program
Explanation
This activity is used to assign valid serial parts to a maintenance program.
Prerequisites
- Serial parts must have been defined.
- A maintenance program must have been defined. This maintenance program
must be in the Preliminary status.
- Template structures must have been defined if the Copy
Parts From Template Structure option is to be used.
System Effects
- The assigned serial parts are valid to use for the maintenance program.

If the Copy Parts From Template Structure option is used, all serial parts
belonging to the selected template structure will be assigned to the maintenance
program.

All existing revisions of the assigned serial parts are automatically added to
the maintenance program. The assigned part revisions can be viewed in the
Assign Part Revisions tab.

Maintenance groups can be connected to the maintenance program.

Procedure
Note:
The following procedures can be performed using the
Parts Assigned To Maintenance Program window as well.
Follow this procedure to assign a serial part to the
maintenance program:
- Open the
Define Maintenance Program
window and query (F3) for your maintenance program revision.
- Click the
Assign Parts tab and
create a new record (F5).
- In the Part Number field, enter the part
number of the serial part which is to be assigned to the maintenance
program. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- If needed, enter the manufacturer of the serial
part in the Manufacturer Number field.
- If needed, enter the manufacturer's part identity
in the Manufacturer's Part No field.
- Save the record (F12).
Follow this procedure to assign a serial part to a
maintenance program when the part number of the serial part is not known:
- Open the
Define Maintenance Program
window and query (F3) for your maintenance program revision.
- Click the
Assign Parts
tab and
create a new record (F5).
- Enter the manufacturer of the serial part and the
manufacturer's part identity in the Manufacturer Number and
Manufacturer's Part No fields. Use the List of Values to select valid
values. Once these values are entered, the part number of the serial part
appears by default.
- You can also choose to directly enter the
manufacturer's part identity in the Manufacturer's Part No field. Use
the List of Values to select a value. Once the manufacturer's part identity
is entered, the manufacturer number and part number of the serial part
appear by default.
- Save the record (F12).
Follow this procedure to assign serial parts to a
maintenance program using the Copy Parts From Template Structure option:
- Open the
Define Maintenance Program
window and query (F3) for your maintenance program revision.
- Click the
Assign Parts
tab.
- Select the row that contains the part number that
was manually assigned to the maintenance program, right-click and then click
Copy Parts From Template Structure. The Copy Parts From Template
Structure dialog box opens.
- In the Template Part No field, the template
part number for the assigned part appears by default. If needed, click
List to select a different template part.
- In the Templ Rev field, enter the revision
number of the selected template part. Click List to select a valid
value.
- Select the Copy only Template Parts check box to copy template
parts in the selected template structure. There are no restrictions
in the number of serial parts that can be copied to your maintenance
program.
- Select the Copy Alternates check box to
copy alternates in the selected template structure.
- Click OK.
When the Copy Parts From Template Structure option is used to assign
serial parts, parts belonging to a template
structure that is not required for the maintenance program may be copied as
well. Use the following procedure to remove these serial part from the
maintenance program:
- Open the
Define Maintenance Program
window and query (F3) for your maintenance program revision.
- Click the
Assign Parts
tab.
- Select the row that contains the template part
structure to remove, right-click and then click Remove Part and Structure.
The
Remove Part and Structure dialog box opens.
- The value in the Template Part No field
appears by default.
- In the Templ Rev field, enter the revision
number of the template part structure to be removed. Click List to
select a value.
- Click OK.
