Enable Catch Unit
Explanation
For certain goods, a fixed conversion rate between the inventory unit of
measure and price unit of measure cannot be used because the conversion factor
varies too much. To overcome this, you can use a catch unit of measure as a
parallel unit to the inventory unit of measure. You will have to enter or update
quantities in both units when you are performing transactions for this part. A
correct price conversion will become attainable, based on the quantity (in catch
unit of measure) that is currently available in the system.
Prerequisites
To enter a Catch Unit Code in the
Part window:
- The catch unit code you want to enter must exist as a unit of measure in
IFS/Application Services.
- The quantity in transit for the part must be zero at all the sites.
System Effects
- The part will become catch unit enabled. When receiving or issuing less
than the total quantity present at a location, you will have to give the
quantity in catch unit of measure as well.
- After a part has been catch unit enabled and transactions have taken
place for the part, you will not be allowed to change the catch unit code to
a different one. You can instead enable or disable catch unit, by selecting
or clearing the Catch Unit Enabled check box in the Part
Catalog/General tab.
