Reserve Requisition
Explanation
In
Material Requisition, click Reserve in the
Operations menu to reserve material for all selected lines. To do manual reservations or
to reserve material from a specific inventory location, use the Reserve Manually
option in the Operations menu.
Note: Stock on pallet cannot be reserved and issued on Material Requisition
Lines.
Prerequisites
- A material requisition header and at least one requisition line must have been entered
and saved.
- The lines that you want to reserve must be selected.
- The quantity of parts that will be reserved should be available in stock. The line is
partially reserved if you reserve more parts than are available in stock.
System Effects
- The parts are reserved in stock and the order line status is updated from Released to
Reserved. You can see the quantity of parts reserved in the Qty Reserved
field.
- If you had connected the material requisition line to a project activity and set
the supply code to Project Inventory, parts will be reserved from the project
inventory of the connected project. In doing so, priority will be given
to the project inventory of the specific project activity to which the line is
connected. If such parts are unavailable, a reservation will take place from the
project inventories of the other activities belonging to the same project. The
exception to this rule is if the material allocation for the project is to be done within each activity (indicated in
Project/General),
in which case, automatic reservations will only be made in project inventory
within the same project activity to which the line is
connected.
- If you had connected the material requisition line to a
project activity and set the supply code to Inventory Order, parts will be
reserved from standard inventory on behalf of the connected project activity.
- If the material requisition line is not connected to a
project activity, reservation will always be done from standard inventory.

Procedure
- Populate or query for the appropriate material requisition.
- Select the requisition lines that you want to reserve.
- Click Reserve in the Operations menu.
