Enter Technical Coordinator

Explanation

Use this activity to enter technical coordinators. A technical coordinator is a reference person in technical matters for a specific part in the procurement process, i.e., on purchase requisitions, purchase orders, order requests for quotation, and supplier agreement requests for quotation. This way the supplier knows whom to contact if he or she has any technical issues to discuss.

The technical coordinator is connected to the part in the inventory part record or, in the case of a non-inventory registered purchase part, the purchase part record.

Prerequisites

The technical coordinator has to be entered as a person in IFS/Enterprise.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The technical coordinator will be available in the List of Values for technical coordinators.
• If you select the Blocked for Use check box, the technical coordinator will not be available for further use and will not appear in the List of Values.

Procedure

1. Open the Inventory Basic Data window.
2. Click the Technical Coordinators tab.
3. Create a new record.
4. In the Tech Coordinator ID field, enter or select from the List of Values the person ID for the person who is the technical coordinator. The name associated with the ID will populate. If a phone number has been entered in the Person window, and the communication method is set to Phone, then the phone number will also populate. It cannot be manually entered in the Phone field.
5. Optionally, select the Blocked for Use check box to block the technical coordinator from further use.
6. Save the changes.
