Visualize Reservation and Backflush Logic

Explanation

This activity is used to view the reservation and backflush logic for a shop order. You can view this only for one material line at a time.

Prerequisites

A shop order which is not in the Closed status should exist.

System Effects

As a result of this activity the system displays the locations for each level in the hierarchy for reserve and backflush on the shop order. For each location, the available inventory is displayed and in the tree view, an icon is displayed indicating whether the location is included or not in the reservation or backflush logic.

The 3 different types of icons and a description of what each icon indicates is given in the following table.

Icon Description
This icon indicates that the location is allowed to be used and that there is material available for reservation/backflush on this location.
Note: This icon will also be displayed in the tree structure to indicate that the location is allowed to be used and there is a reservation for the material line on this location, but, there might not be any material available (i.e., the value displayed in the Total Qty Available field will be 0) .
This icon indicates that this location is not allowed to be used in the selected logic.
This icon indicates that the location is allowed to be used in the selected logic, but there is no available quantity.

All parameters that affect the reservation and backflush are also displayed in this dialog box.

Procedure

  1. On the Material tab, select the material line for which you want to visualize the reservation and backflush logic.
  2. Right-click on the material line and then click Reserve and Backflush Visualization. The Reserve and Backflush Visualization dialog box opens displaying the reserve or backflush logic.
  3. If a material line has the Reserve/Issue Method set to Reserve and Backflush, then in the Condition for Tree Structure list, click Show Backflush Hierarchy in order to view the backflush hierarchy visualization. Select Show Reservation Hierachy to view the reservation hierarchy visualization.
  4. In the Material Line Info area, it will show the details about the material line operation number, issued location and the reserve or issue method.
  5. The Availability Check check box in the Component Part Info area will be checked if there is a need to determine whether a control should be performed at the customer order line registration and to check if there is enough quantity available without denying other orders. This will also give user planning alerts, availability problems and error messages upon releasing and reserving the order.
  6. The Negative On Hand Allowed check box will be selected if the negative quantity on hand in the inventory is allowed. Backflush transactions can only have the negative quantities. It affects exclusively on shop orders or production schedules.
Note: Negative quantities on hand will be allowed only when the inventory valuation method is set to standard cost.
  7. Select Close after viewing the necessary information.
