Define and Maintain Maintenance Level Structure

Explanation

Use this activity to define and maintain maintenance level structures for any part that is intended to be maintained. Maintenance level structures are used in assembly as well as in disassembly. In the case of disassembly, this structure identifies the components of the overhaul object which need to be removed according to the given maintenance level for the position. In the case of assembly, this structure identifies the components which need to be installed for the position being assembled.

Prerequisites

VIM template structure should have been transferred.

Maintenance levels should be defined.

System Effects

Either an assembly or disassembly structure will be defined for the particular maintenance level.

Any alterations made to an existing structure will be accommodated and shown on the structure thereafter.

Procedure

A maintenance level structure for a given position part can be defined as follows.

  1. Open the Maintenance Level Structure window and select the position part for which you want to create a structure. You can do this by populating the window or querying for it.
  2. Click in the Maintenance Level field and create a new record.
  3. Enter a maintenance level or select one from the List of Values.
  4. Save the record.
  5. Select the parts which will be exposed by the maintenance level by selecting the Included check box.
  6. Right-click in the header and then click Activate to set the maintenance state to Active.

    Note
: The assembly or disassembly structure should have been promoted to Buildable state. The option to activate will not be enabled unless it is so. If it has not been promoted, you can promote it through the Product Structure window, which can be reached through the Navigator or by right-clicking in the header.

Changes can be made to an existing structure as follows.

  1. Query for the relevant position part in the Level Structure window.
  2. Parts to be exposed by the maintenance level can be included or removed by selecting or clearing the Included check box respectively.
  3. The state of the maintenance level structure can be changed by clicking on one of three right mouse button options in the header, as appropriate.
