Create Fault Report

Explanation

Use this activity to create a fault report from a stop event. A fault report is created when;

• the event is to be taken care of by maintenance personnel.
• OR, if any maintenance action has been performed for the event and should be stored as historical data in IFS/Maintenance.

Mandatory data, such as the site and object ID are retrieved automatically from the selected stop event record. This serves as an aid for simplifying the process of creating a fault report. Note: automatically retrieved data can be changed if necessary. Apart from this, you need to enter other mandatory data, such as a directive and maintenance organization before the fault report can be successfully created. Once the fault report is created it can be accessed via the Work Order link in the Stop Event window.

Prerequisites

Information for the selected stop event record must be saved before you can proceed with the creation of a fault report.

System Effects

A fault report with a unique work order number is created, and can be viewed by clicking on the available link in the Stop Event window.

Procedure

Use this procedure to create a fault report for a stop event:

1. Open the Stop Event window and identify the stop event you want.
2. Right-click and then click Create Fault Report. The Create New Work Order dialog box opens.
3. The fields Site, Object ID, Reported By and Fault Description are automatically populated with values retrieved from the stop event. These values can be changed if necessary.
4. Enter a short description of the reported fault in the Directive field.
5. In the Maintenance Organization field, enter the ID of the maintenance organization to which the fault report should be directed.
6. In the Late Start field, enter the date on which work is planned to start.
7. In the Requested Finish field, enter the date by which work is planned to be completed.
8. In the Symptom field, enter the symptom of the fault reported. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
9. In the Priority field, enter the prioritization of the fault reported. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
10. In the Discovery field, enter the means by which the fault was discovered. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
11. Click OK to close the dialog box and create the fault report.
12. To view information on the created fault report click on the link given to the particular work order (Work Order XXX).

You can also use the Search functionality to locate the stop event for which you want to create a fault report. The following procedure can be used, for instance, when you know the ID of the stop event you want.

1. Open the Search navigator by clicking Search on the toolbar.
2. In the Search For list, click Stop. Enter necessary information in the Search Criteria area and click Search.
3. The Stop Event Overview window opens with the search result(s).
4. Select the row that holds the event you want, right-click and then click Show Details. The Stop Event window opens with information for the selected event.
