Define Production Line Operating Parameters

Explanation

This activity is used to enter production line operating parameters, which are needed for production line management. The parameters are as follows:

Daily Operating Minutes:This figure is used as the input for takt time calculations. You can enter this value manually, or retrieve the average daily run minutes from the production line calendar, for a sample date range.
Default Schedule Horizon: This is used as the basis for calculating default schedule date ranges when retrieving demands or calculating proposed schedules. The Firm and Schedule horizons are used to calculate a date range to be used in the features.
Default Scheduling Method: This is the default method that will be used when running the scheduling feature or when the schedules are loaded directly from the customer order demands. You should select one of scheduling logics to be used when loading the line. The available options are:
- Schedule to exactly meet demand.
- Backward schedule using line rate as capacity limit.
- Forward schedule using line rate as capacity limit.

Operating minutes will be used only for the takt time calculation as an input, but will be stored with the production line.
The default schedule horizon will be used as the basis for the default date range calculations when retrieving the line demand, generating proposed schedules, or copying proposed schedules to the actual schedule. If a default schedule horizon is not defined, the date ranges must be entered manually in each of the activities.

Open the Production Line Management window.
Right-click and then click Calculate Operation Minutes from the Calendar. Otherwise, you can manually enter the daily operating minutes.
Enter the horizon ID in the Default Scheduling Horizon field, or select it from the List of Values.
Select the default scheduling method from the drop down list of Production Schedule Load Methods.
