Define Supply Type and Planning Method

Explanation

This activity is used to specify which parts are to be built with the repetitive production application. The supply type defines the default acquisition technique for a given part. The choices are limited, partly based on the part type. The meaning of the supply type is that you indicate you want a production schedule for the part to be produced by Master Scheduling or Material Requirements Planning.

Prerequisites

The part must be defined in the Inventory Part window. When you select supply type Schedule, you cannot use the planning method B - Order Point Planning, C - Replenishment Level, N - Next Level Demand, or DOP Part.

System Effects

The system sets the supply type to Schedule for a part to be used as a production scheduled part. A production schedule will be produced for every part marked with a supply type of Schedule and that has been associated with a manufacturing cell.
