Perform Line Operation Analysis

Explanation

This activity is used to view a consolidated line routing for all the parts on a line, and to compare the operation details to the takt time as a simple line balance analysis. You can pick the preferred routing alternatives to use for each part (the default value is denoted by an asterisk (*)), and view a comparison of the operation durations relative to the calculated takt time, using either a specified lot size or a per unit value (assuming it is a single piece flow). The output  displays comparisons of the operation setup and the run times to the takt time calculated earlier.

The consolidated line routing is constructed by aligning operations across all the line parts into a single view. The line routing is sequenced according to the operation number; assuming that identical operation numbers must represent identical operations as long as they are for the same work center.

Procedure

  1. Open the Production Line Management window, and right-click and then click Routing Operation Load Analysis Parameter
  2. In the dialog box, you must specify the preferred routing alternatives to be used for each part. (Once this is done the first time, the preference will be stored and used thereafter, until you decide to change it).
  3. Enter the lot size.
  4. Select a line operation analysis parameter.
  5. Select a line load analysis parameter.
  6. Select a lot sizing parameter.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click the Operation Analysis tab.
  9. Select the preferred part number and routing alternative.
  10. Select the display time unit.
  11. View and routing operation details.
  12. View and compare the operation durations relative to the calculated takt time, using either a specified lot size or per unit value (assuming it is a single piece flow).
  13. Check whether  operation time is higher than takt time for any operation.
