Reserve or Unreserve Material Demand

Explanation

This activity is used to manually reserve or unreserve inventory parts for a maintenance order. This is done by allocating or removing the allocation of material against the maintenance order.

Procedure

Follow this procedure to reserve a part for a maintenance order having the Work Order distribution type:

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and search for the necessary maintenance order.
  2. Click the Maint Order Str. tab. Select the relevant structure item in the graphical maintenance order structure and then click the Material Required sub tab.
  3. Right-click on the part line and then click Reserve Manually. The Manual Reservation dialog box opens.
  4. All inventory parts for the selected part will be displayed in the table. Select the relevant part line.
  5. In the Qty to Reserve field, enter the quantity of material you want reserved. Note that you cannot reserve more parts than what is required on the particular order line.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Verify the quantity you have entered is displayed in the Qty Reserved field for the relevant part line in the Material Required sub tab. You can also verify whether the reserved quantity is shown on the demand line by right-clicking on the part line and then clicking Inventory Part Availability Planning.

Follow this procedure to reserve a part for a maintenance order having the Execution Logic Structure distribution type:

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and search for the necessary maintenance order.
  2. Click the Exec. Logic tab. Select the relevant node item in the graphical ELS structure and then click the Material Required sub tab.
  3. Right-click on the part line and then click Reserve Manually. The Manual Reservation dialog box opens.
  4. All inventory parts for the selected part will be displayed in the table. Select the relevant part line.
  5. In the Qty to Reserve field, enter the quantity of material you want reserved. Note that you cannot reserve more parts than what is required on the particular order line.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Verify the quantity you have entered is displayed in the Qty Reserved field for the relevant part line in the Material Required sub tab. You can also verify whether the reserved quantity is shown on the demand line by right-clicking on the part line and then clicking Inventory Part Availability Planning.

  4. In the Unreserve Qty field, enter the quantity of material you want to unreserve.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Verify that the quantity has reduced by the given amount in the Qty Reserved field for the relevant part line in the Material Required sub tab.

Follow this procedure to remove the reservation of a part from a maintenance order having the Execution Logic Structure distribution type:

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and search for the necessary maintenance order.
  2. Click the Exec. Logic tab. Select the relevant structure item in the graphical ELS structure and then click the Material Required sub tab.
