Gantt
Usage
Use this window to view the graphical
representation of one or several projects. It is also possible to do manual
changes to the project activities and create a project network or perform a
scheduling calculation.
The user can adjust the appearance of the Gantt chart and the information
shown, by using the settings in the header of the window, or through various
menu options. The Gantt window has these graphical features:
- The project structure is shown beside the Gantt chart.
- Summary bars are shown for the project and sub project levels. These can
be expanded to show the underlying structure or collapsed using
corresponding menu options.
- Activities are
represented by bars, where the beginning and end of the bar corresponds to the Early Start (ES) and Early Finish (EF)
dates and the length of the bar corresponds to the Total Work Days of the
activity.
- Optionally, activity Calculated Cost Progress and Calculated Hours Progress
are represented by different bars on top of the activity bar.
- Milestone activities, i.e. activities that have work days
equal to zero, are represented as a diamond.
- Optionally, time-critical objects connected to an activity can be
displayed. The objects
that can be seen in the Gantt chart are Purchase Order line, Shop Order, Work Order
and DOP Header.
- Optionally, activities with exceptions can be marked with a warning triangle.
- Optionally, activities that are on the critical path can be seen in red
color.
- Optionally, the working and non-working periods from the project calendar
are shown in the Gantt.
The activity dates can be either set manually or through a scheduling
calculation in the Gantt:
- The activity Early Start, Early Finish and Total Work Days can be
manually adjusted by moving the bars or changing the length of the bars.
- The activity network can be created in the Gantt, by adding dependencies between activities. The
dependencies are represented by arrows between the activities and can be
optionally shown or hidden as set in the
Gantt header. Select the menu option Dependency Details to view or update
the dependency information including the Predecessor activity, Successor
activity, Dependency Type and Lag.
- A scheduling calculation can be initiated by selecting menu option
Schedule Project.
