Create Project Spread Profile

Explanation

Perform this activity to create spread profiles which can be used to distribute hours or amounts into different date ranges or periods in project resource forecasting and project budgets and forecasts. The purpose of these spread profiles is to simplify the spreading so that you can select and use a predefined spread profile to perform the spreading instead of entering spreading manually per date range or period. A spread profile can also be set as the default profile for a resource forecast, cost forecast and/or revenue forecast. When e.g. a resource forecast line is added in a company the spread profile that is set as default will be proposed automatically for it.

Project Spread Profile

Procedure

  1. Open the Project Spread Profile window.
  2. Create a new record in the header (F5).
  3. In the Spread Profile ID field enter an ID for the spread profile.
  4. In the Description field enter a description of the spread profile.
  5. In the Company field enter the company for which this spread profile is valid. Spread Profile ID together with Company should be unique. If you do not enter a value in the Company field this spread profile will be valid for all companies.
  6. In the No of Intervals field enter the number of intervals that should be used in this spread profile. If e.g. 4 intervals are entered, 4 interval rows with a proposal of 25 % distribution in each interval will be created automatically when you save the header.
Note. If the number of intervals are increased or decreased later, the percentage of distribution needs to be updated manually on the rows.
  7. Optionally, if values are entered for Gradient and Mid-Point (these fields are hidden by default and need to be enabled if they should be used) the distribution will be done according to an S-Curve. In the Gradient field, enter the value to determine the steepness of the S-Curve. In the Mid-Point field, enter the point at which half of the cost/revenue should have been distributed. If no values are entered in the Gradient and Mid-Point the distribution will be done evenly between the intervals.
  8. Click Save to save the header.
  9. Optionally, change the % Distribution on the intervals so that it suits the spread profile that should be entered.
  10. Optionally, if the spread profile should be a default spread profile for the resource allocation, cost spread and/or revenue spread select the corresponding check boxes.
Note. Only one spread profile can be default profile for e.g. resource allocation in the same company. If you select another spread profile as default profile for the resource allocation in that company, the check box will be automatically cleared for the previous spread profile.
  11. Click Save and save the changes in the interval rows.
