Assign Freight Zones

Explanation

This activity is used to assign freight zones to supply chain matrix records. The required assigning can be performed for all records, specified sites or specified ship-via codes. The zones in these records will be used for freight calculation when entering customer order lines.

You can either assign freight zones directly, or schedule the task as a background job. 

Observe that it is possible to enter the zones manually without running this activity.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites.

• The appropriate zone map should have been created with the zone defined.
• The appropriate supply chain matrix record should exist.

System Effects

• The values for Zone Definition ID and the Zone Map ID in the Site to Customer Supply Chain Parameters, Supplier to Customer Supply Chain Parameters and Site to Site Supply Chain Parameters windows, and the Supply Chain Matrix for Customer/From External Supplier and Supply Chain Matrix for Customer/From Supply Site tabs will get updated accordingly. However if freight zones have been assigned manually, even if an automatic assigning job is run, manually entered values will remain.

Procedure

You can assign freight zones directly, or schedule the task as a background job.

To assign freight zones directly:

1. Open the Assign Freight Zones dialog box. 
2. To assign freight zones for sites belonging to a specific site cluster, specify the required site cluster ID. The root node will automatically appear as the site cluster node ID. This can be changes if required.
3. To assign freight zones for a specific site, specify the required site.
4. By specifying a supplier, freight zones will be applied to that supplier only.
5. To assign freight zones for a specific ship-via code, enter the required ship-via code.
6. Click OK after the necessary criteria is specified. 

To schedule to assign freight zones as a background job;

1. Click Schedule to open the New Database Task Schedule window. Set the scheduling parameters as desired and save. Scheduled tasks can be seen in Scheduled Database Tasks window
