Create Freight Map and Enter Zone Definitions

Explanation

This activity is used to create the freight map header and enter the zones. A set of zones is called a freight map.There will be different maps for different ship-via methods, i.e. the distance will have to be handled differently in air transport and road transport.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

• The required ship-via code must have been defined in the Ship Via Codes window.
• The owning site or the suppliers site must exist.
• If the Zone Defined By value in the zone definition is to be:
   
  • States, and if a state is to be entered as a discrete value in the zone definition detail, that state should have been defined in the States window.
  • County, and if a county is to be entered as a discrete value in the zone definition detail, that county should have been defined in the Counties window.
  • City, and if a city is to be entered as a discrete value in the zone definition detail, that city should have been defined in the Cities window.

Note: However in order to define states, counties or cities for a country, that country should have been defined in the Address Setup per Country window.

System Effects

• A new freight map will be created having one or many zone definitions.
• It will not be possible to create another freight map, for this ship-via code and the site, after creating this freight map.
• It will be possible to assign zones to the records in the supply chain matrix for the site.
• It will be possible to create a freight price list using these zones.

Procedure

1. Open the Freight Map window and click New.
2. Enter appropriate values for freight map ID and freight map description.
3. Enter manually or select from the List of Values the required ship-via code.
4. Enter the supplier's site as the Owning Site.

To enter zone definitions:

1. Click the General tab and then click on the top table.
2. Click New to create a new zone definition.
3. Enter an appropriate zone ID and a description.
4. Select a base country for the zone from the List of Values.
5. Select a value for the Zone Defined By field from the given options. However if Country is the zone-defined-by value, the base country should have a null value.
6. Repeat step 2-5 until all zone definitions have been entered and save when completed.

To enter zone definition details:

1. Select the appropriate zone definitions from the top table.
2. Click the bottom table and click New to create a new zone definition detail.    
3. For zone definitions having zone-defined-by value as Country, State, County or City, select an appropriate discrete value from the List of Values.
   Note: The values in the List of Values depend on the value selected as the zone-defined-by field in the top table.
4. For zone definitions having zone-defined-by value as Zip Code, then specify appropriate zip code range by entering values in the From and To fields.
5. Repeat step 1-4 until all zone definition details have been entered and save when completed.
