Rename Serial (Step 4 of 6) - Cancellation of Tasks

[About Serial Structures] [About VIM Access Control] [To Perform Maintenance Engineering] [To Manage Serialized Configuration] [To Manage Line Maintenance] [To Dispatch Asset and Close Maintenance Visit]

Usage

Use this step of the Rename Serial assistant to cancel running tasks for the serial. These tasks could be fault tasks, interval maintenance tasks, modification tasks or on-condition tasks. When the part number of a serial is changed, one or more running tasks for the serial may become obsolete. For example, a modification exists for the selected serial. This modification is not valid for the new part number and should not be performed on the renamed serial. At such instances, the system will perform a check and automatically cancel obsolete running tasks when renaming the serial. By default, the Cancel Task check box is selected for obsolete running task records and cannot be modified. Note: If you do not wish to cancel a task which is required to be canceled, you may exit the Rename Serial assistant and manually finish the running tasks before proceeding with the part identity change.

All running tasks for the serial which are distributed with distribution type Simplified Work Order and Work Order will be shown in this assistant step. If you choose to cancel a running task which is not required to be canceled (i.e., tasks which are still valid once the part number change is completed), you need to enter a valid cause for canceling the particular task, and manually select the Cancel Task check box for the record.

Note: This step of the assistant can be accessed once the part number of the serial is changed and running tasks exist for the serial.
