Define Location Type

Explanation

This activity is used to define a location type. Each location type can be set up with information on add time minutes, lack of coverage and do on location incentive for locations associated with this location type. Location types are connected to the locations and provide the location with information. That is, if no location specific data has been entered for a location, the location will inherit the values for add time minutes, lack of coverage and do on location incentive from the location type. Procedure

  1. Open the Location Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Location Type tab and create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Location Type field, enter the ID of the location type.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the location type.
  5. In the Add Time Minutes field, enter the amount of time in minutes to be added to the travel of an work order at the location with this location type. Entering a value in this field is optional. 
  6. In the Lack Of Coverage field, use the drop down to define whether this location type has lack of coverage. Lack of coverage informs about bad connectivity at locations associated with this location type. The lack of coverage parameter informs the scheduling despatch service to try to send work to the technician before reaching the location with bad connectivity. Entering a value in this field is optional. 
  7. In the Do On Location Incentive field, enter a value of either -1 or anything between 1 and 2. Entering a negative means that there is a hard constraint to prioritize all work orders at the location associated with this location type whilst visiting the location for another work order. Entering a positive value between 1 and 2 will give a positive incentive to prioritize work orders at the location associated with this location type whilst visiting the location for another work order. Entering a value in this field is optional. 
  8. Save the information (F12).
